Internships

One of the most rewarding ways to get involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters is to do an internship with us. We have a variety of opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to do internships in our Joliet, Morris and Kankakee offices. Interested persons should contact us at 815-723-BBBS.

Graduate Social Work (M.S.W.) Internship
Students who have acquired a Bachelor’s Degree and are working toward a Master’s Degree in Social Work (M.S.W.) for internship opportunities in mentoring, school-based prevention, crisis intervention, delinquency intervention, child welfare, substance abuse intervention, and mental health assessment/counseling services. Case Manager Internship
Undergraduate social work, psychology, or other human service majors to be responsible for understanding and facilitating the Big Brothers Big Sisters match process by assisting the program staff. Intern case management includes but is not limited to: 1.) referrals, inquiry/orientation, 2.) intake, 3.) assessment, 4.) eligibility determination, 5.) match recommendation, 6.) matching, 7.) supervision, 8.) closure, 9.) record keeping, 10.) maintenance of confidential records, and 11.) referrals. Public Relations/Marketing Internship
Provides an opportunity for undergraduate students with a career interest in public relations/marketing communications/event planning to observe and/or participate in all executive, management and administrative support functions required to execute a fund development and communications program for a non-profit organization. This includes media relations, donor and volunteer communications, special events, media relations, and government relations. Click here »

Fund Development Internship
Interns work closely with our Fund Development Department primarily focused on events management. There will be opportunities to learn about and participate in different facets of Fund Development, including donor cultivation and stewardship, alumni relations, and database management.
