Events and Promotions Intern

The agency's fund development staff members are responsible for identifying and securing funding to support our mission. Funding is sought through major gifts – individuals, foundations, and corporations. Fundraising events include Bowl for Kids’ Sake (BFKS) -- the national signature event, and Big Finale -- a dessert tasting event; and multiple smaller programs throughout the year provide additional revenue opportunities.

Key Elements of Internship:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of a successful Bowl for Kids' sake campaign in the following areas:

    Marketing and promotional planning

    Volunteer/Staff engagement

    Managing on-line tools

    Recruitment of bowlers

    Any applicable administrative components and related data input

    Management of any planning activities

    Management of event-day activities

  • Serve as an important part of additional events/committees with varying responsibilities

  • Work with the Chief Advancement Office and the Director of Finance  on donor invoicing and payment follow-up

Qualifications:

  • Computer proficient

  • Strong internet research skills

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Creative, “self-starter”

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Professional demeanor

  • Performance driven

  • Marketing, Public Relations, Business Majors, or Recreational Administration or comparable experience, events experience helpful

Case Manager Internships

Intern Case Managers are responsible for understanding and facilitating the Big Brothers Big Sisters match process by assisting the program staff. 

Intern case management includes but is not limited to:  referrals, inquiry/orientation; client and volunteer intake; assessment; eligibility determination;  match recommendation; match supervision; match closure; record keeping; maintenance of confidential records; and referrals.   

Qualifications: Enrollment in college undergraduate or graduate program, one year experience in youth service or educational institution involving direct client service; project management, and communication skills;  reliable transportation and valid driver’s license; successful completion of criminal background and driving history check.

Hours are flexible and scheduled to maximize intern’s ability to meet the needs of the clients and to provide the highest quality of service delivery.

Public Relations/marketing Internship

Public Relations / Marketing Interns are involved in virtually all aspects of public relations in the non-profit arena.

Job description includes: assist in planning events, assist in planning fundraisers, writing and sending out press releases, PSA's and other office correspondence such as requests for donations and thank you letters, assist in writing and assembling newsletter. Light filing and phone work, possibilities for public speaking, and planning public relations campaigns.

Qualifications: Enrollment in college undergraduate or graduate program, one year experience in youth service or educational institution involving direct client service; project management, and communication skills;  reliable transportation and valid driver’s license; successful completion of criminal background and driving history check. 

We ask that you commit 10-20 hours a week but are flexible and will work around your school schedule.
